LEP’s founder, Dereje Aleme, knows the difficulty of life on the streets first hand.  His dream of “lighting the path” off the streets and towards a new life is finally coming true.  LEP has partnered with Made in the Streets to start up a ministry to kids on the streets that we hope will transform as many lives in Ethiopia as MITS has in Kenya.

This is an exciting expansion!  Dereje has hand-picked a team of five young adults who are spending August and September in Nairobi being trained by MITS Kenya before returning to open a drop-in center. These young adults are leaving their country for the first time to learn more about how to best help the millions of homeless children in Ethiopia. Will you sponsor one of these young adults with some spending money for their training time in Kenya?  Any amount will help but we would love to provide each team member with $150 for their 8 weeks of training.  That’s less than $20 per week per person.

You may also make a donation toward the support of the Aleme family who have been running LEP in Ethiopia without pay for almost 4 years now.  As LEP currently has no paid employees, 100% of your donation goes directly toward the work in the field. Dereje’s service and leadership makes the work of LEP possible on the ground in Addis Ababa. Thank you for financial support and your prayers!

  • Hi! I hope you guys are doing great. I was just trying to sign up for recurring donations, and I was confused about how to finish the transaction. I was able to successfully give a one time donation, so I’m wondering if the link needs to be reset for the recurring one to work right, or if there needs to be additional instructions as to how to complete the recurring donation? The one-time donation worked fine, but the attempt to sign up for a recurring one just opened paypal, but didn’t seem to connect to the transaction. Anyway, hope all is well and we’re keeping you in our prayers.
