Lighting the Ethiopian Path is a non-profit organization seeking to transform the lives of homeless teens, not just for a few days but forever. This organization seeks to holistically approach education and personal development while improving one community of Ethiopia at a time. Our goal is to provide an environment that will produce self-supporting adults who can contribute to the improvement of their own communities and be leaders of positive change for other communities. To do this, we are starting with the most vulnerable population in a poverty-stricken country. Millions of kids are currently living on the streets of the largest cities of Ethiopia with no family, sustainable source of food, shelter, healthcare, or educational opportunities. Survival forces them into situations that no child should have to experience. These young people have little or no chance to ever get off the streets without some form of outside help. Unfortunately, most families in Ethiopia are struggling to feed their own children and are already taking care of others' children as well. This country respected since Biblical times as the heart of the kingdom of Queen Sheba, is now struggling to provide clean drinking water and sanitation systems. HIV/AIDS and decades of instability have left the country with little infrastructure and hundreds of thousands of children without parents. But the spirit of this great country is not broken. The hopes and dreams of her children are as bright as ever. You can change the life of one of the world's most needy children in a way that will improve lives for generations to come. Please take a sneak peak into life in Ethiopia and specifically for children living on the streets. See the beauty of the country and briefly learn about the rich history of the people. Find out how these hopes and dreams will actually become a reality and hear a little of our plans for the first steps down this path: Adam Segged Home & School. And then see the different ways that you can play a part in Lighting the Ethiopian Path.
